<br />
So, we've got our hall booked and paid for so we have our date. So the 5th Annual Mike Mudd Memorial Tournament will be held on November 9th, 2013. So for those that don't know what the MMMT is, it's a tournament that us at the Stratford Gaming Union put on every year (for 5 years now) that is put on in memory of one of our members that passed away at far to young an age.<br />
<br />
We put the tournament on and all the proceeds from the tournament go to support our local OSPCA. Mike Mudd's parents attend every year to help us hand out the prizes. For the past few years we have raised well over $1000.00 for the past few years in honor of our friend.<br />
<br />
This year it will be held in the same hall we had last year. The Stratford Army & Navy at 151 Lorne Ave E, Stratford Ontario. It'll be 1750 points and we'll be hammering out the rest of the rules as we get closer to the event.<br />
<br />

So...as some of you may have seen I've created a red Ork boy in a jump pack. I had some bitz and when I saw the jump pack I just had to paint the Ork red because my first army was Blood Angels and so if I was going to build an Ork in armor with a jet pack he just had to be red.<br />
<br />
Now because of of new 6th edition I can play the Blud Boyz with the Wulf Boyz. But now that I've built a test squad here I really want to make a 1750 point Blud Boyz army now.<br />
<br />
So here is the squad...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k199/Aarkkon/IMG_0365_zps17badee2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="238" src="http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k199/Aarkkon/IMG_0365_zps17badee2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>

<br />
Not so much. So the Wulf Boyz are built up to a playable 1750 point list and works at 1500 points as well which are currently the only two points I really need to play at for up coming events. I never did plan to build it to big. I had looked around at all the parts I had laying around and started a new project. Proving as I said I just will never learn.<br />

So...We've been gone for some time and that's mainly my fault. I'm the guy that runs most of the social media and admin work on most of the Stratford Gaming Union sites. Running the forum, this blog our Facebook page <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Stratford-Gaming-Union/158799160812292"></a> and our twitter ( @StratfordGaming ) but a lot has gone on in the last few year that really has made me drop out of the hobby and thus the running of these sites.
Not to bore you but to put it shortly I had started a new job at the same time burnt myself out of 40k and mini hobbies all together. This all came at the same time 6th Edition dropped which seemed a good time to take a break.
I'm back though, I couldn't stay away to long. I've been playing 40k since 2nd Edition and with four armies I wasn't going to just stop forever.
That said, planning for MMMV - The Fifth Annual Mike Mudd Memorial Tournament has started up with the writing of and testing of missions. You can bet Blood Bowl will be one of the first off the press.
So with that I've started to plan out and re-work my 5th ed armies for 6th ed. My Iron Warriors which were mostly painted back in 3rd Ed need the biggest update. So my posts will probably start with my update to them. Blog Update is the space I use to let you know about the recent changes and/or additions to <a href="http://skared.podbean.com/">the main blog</a> that you might miss in passing. There are a few things that I have changed on the site so check em out! First off, I added a <b>new page</b> (they can be found in the top right hand corner of the page). This new page lists all the video battle reports that I have recorded and released onto my <a href="http://tinyurl.com/7s6wmat">Youtube Channel</a> They are listed, and easy to access and the links will take you directly to the video. So check it out, the latest battle report:
<a href="http://youtu.be/QPGHyrHkg_E">1500pts Grey Knights vs Dark Eldar - Astronomicon Toronto Test Mission</a>
I have also updated the Podcast Episode Index page to include Episode 10, so you don't have to scroll down and look for the episode. All the previous episodes are up there as well, so maybe check them out too!
Well, thats all for the moment.

I strolled into the Gaming store this past saturday, once again. This time I had a scheduled game all lined up. If you know my story I have just recently moved into the area so I am fairly new to the community. This means that I have been trying to find my niche spot within the gaming tiers of the area. Last time I was at the store one of the -twins- called me out for a game, he said he had heard I was a -decent- player and therefore wanted to have a game. I was flattered (of course) that my reputation had preceeded me :D. I had heard of the -twins- over the last month or so from various members of the gaming community and they are held in high regard when it comes to list buinding (using powerfull lists) and their generalship skills. And so, with this I set out my army and we rolled for the mission straight out of the book.
<em>Mission?</em> 4 Objectives
<em>Deployment?</em> Pitched
<em>Location? </em>Sir Games Alot in Barrie Ontario
<strong>The Table:</strong>
We made sure that there was enough terrain on the table this time, 25% and good LOS blockers. Then tried to mirror it as much as possible in an adepticon format.
The green markers are the primary objectives.
<a href="http://s142.photobucket.com/albums/r94/MarshalAugustine/?action=view&current=IMG-20120512-00360.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r94/MarshalAugustine/IMG-20120512-00360.jpg" border="0" alt="Uploaded by Photobucket Mobile for BlackBerry" /></a>
<strong>The armies:</strong>
I was using the same tournament list that I have been using since I got here and had to drop to 1500pts. It is a strong DE list that has a lot of synergy and can catch people off guard if they are not careful. At a glance the list only has 2 venoms... but at close range (12inches) the army shells out almost 80 AI shots. Hence not needing to rely on the venoms, and boosting 15 AT weapons for decent tank busting capabilities. (with 18 grenades if the wyches get stuck in).
His list was a variation of Blood Angel razorback spam. Cheap squads, cheap HQ and then as many pts in firepower as possible. Of course this variation has adapted to the local meta and he has been using vindies rather than predators because of the prevailence of FNP and other foot troop armies in the area. The use of HK missiles was clearly because of certain DE players that love their night shields. At a distance he could target 6 different things a turn and then even more as soon as the fast vindicators got within range. So I was in for a fight!

Welcome to a Skaredcast Battle report! I had the pleasure of going down to Sir Games A Lot in Barrie this saturday for a game of 40K. The mission? Annihilation. The deployment? Pitched. This is usually called the good ol 4th edition mission! The table was already layed out when we arrived and we decided that it would do. There is one major houserule in effect, forests block LOS. <a href="http://s142.photobucket.com/albums/r94/MarshalAugustine/?action=view&current=IMG-20120505-00323.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r94/MarshalAugustine/IMG-20120505-00323.jpg" border="0" alt="Uploaded by Photobucket Mobile for BlackBerry" /></a>
The Armies:
On to the armies, my opponent was Daniel. I Just met him that day and he had just finished a game with his all bike marine list, he was staying for a while and challenged me to another game, as he pulled out another list he had prepared for the day:

Deployment:
The spacemarines won the roll to go first. And decided to take the first turn, he deployed in a very balanced fashion with a heavier force towards his fight flank.
Because of the sparcity of terrain on the table, and because this was a tournament practice game the Dark Eldar reserved everything. Hoping that they could do as much damage as possible as they arrived.

First entry in May! May the 4th be with you all. :D
So, a few things I would like to write about today. First off: <a href="http://imgur.com/n8e9x"><img title="Hosted by imgur.com" src="http://i.imgur.com/n8e9x.jpg" alt="" /></a>
The new citadel releases from their finecast range... well. What I have purchased. I know this is a topic that is brought up a lot and it debated over and over on the interwebs but because this has now affected me more than not its time to actually get it off my chest.

As always check out my podcast and main blog Skared podcast <a href="http://www.skared.podbean.com">HERE</a>.
Hello all!
So, its been a week since I released the podcast. And the site seems to be handling traffic more often now, this means more regular content! This time I wanted to share a WIP project that I have been working on over the last couple of days. I had a ravager sitting in a box, unbuilt and ready to go, but i wanted to do something different. Now, I wanted to convert a centerpiece for my Dark Eldar force and what better than a raider for my HQ to ride on in style?
The inspiration for this design was the <a href="http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Dark_Eldar/DARK-ELDAR-TANTALUS.html">Dark Eldar Tantalus</a> from forgeworld.
The biggest obstacle for me was starting to cut up the model! I wanted to be able to do it and not mess it up horribly. Anyhow, here is the a progression of pictures, the first cuts and design:
<a href="http://s142.photobucket.com/albums/r94/MarshalAugustine/?action=view&current=IMG-20120428-00301.jpg" target="_blank"><img alt="Uploaded by Photobucket Mobile for BlackBerry" border="0" src="http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r94/MarshalAugustine/IMG-20120428-00301.jpg" /></a>
Then the general shape: <a href="http://s142.photobucket.com/albums/r94/MarshalAugustine/?action=view&current=IMG-20120428-00304.jpg" target="_blank"><img alt="Uploaded by Photobucket Mobile for BlackBerry" border="0" src="http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r94/MarshalAugustine/IMG-20120428-00304.jpg" /></a>
And the overall concept: <a href="http://s142.photobucket.com/albums/r94/MarshalAugustine/?action=view&current=IMG-20120429-00307.jpg" target="_blank"><img alt="Uploaded by Photobucket Mobile for BlackBerry" border="0" src="http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r94/MarshalAugustine/IMG-20120429-00307.jpg" /></a>
Anyhow, thanks for reading. I shall continue to work on this as it gets done. Need to do a lot of greenstuff work on it as well as eventually paint it. But one thing is for sure, my Archon will be riding in style.
Cheers!

This week I talk a bit about a tournament I recently went to as well as my involvement with the 40knation.
Gaming etiquette is something we should all have in mind when we play this game that relies on social contracts.
I discuss list building and the do's and dont's of Gaming, before during and after a game.
In international news I discuss Adepticon, the 40K UK GT, and some New releases, can someone say necrons? Of course I finish off the show with some upcomming events.

I like how he is progressing although I am taking my sweet time with him, I should be done in a few more sessions:<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r94/MarshalAugustine/IMG-20120109-00143.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 640px; height: 480px;" src="http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r94/MarshalAugustine/IMG-20120109-00143.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />I have continued the basic colours of my Kabal, green being the main colour. The gray will be worked up to a white. I like the way he is getting done, his small unit of incubi is to follow.<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r94/MarshalAugustine/IMG-20120109-00144.jpg"><img style="float: right; margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; cursor: pointer; width: 639px; height: 473px;" src="http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r94/MarshalAugustine/IMG-20120109-00144.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Interested in what you see? Make sure you check it out here : <a href="http://skared.podbean.com">Skared.podbean.com</a><br />In this episode I talk about deathstars, and my recent interview with Pat from the <span style="font-weight: bold;">11th Co podcast</span>. Comments are appreciated as it helps the development of the podcast.<br /><br />On another note:<br /><br />So, I had the pleasure of playing against the "<a href="http://www.warmasterschallenge.com/index.php?q=gallery&g2_itemId=1408">sons of shatner</a>" doubles adepticon list last night. I took a very unoptimized and fun 2000pt DE list, and although there were a few times when I was in the game ultimately it was over pretty quickly when some key rolls did not go my way. Anyhow, I hope to play again, but this time I decided I would take a highly optimized Venom Spam list. One of the few armies that does very well in a tournament environment, especially when there is a good amount of terriain on the table. Anyhow:<br /><br />List 1 (1000pts, takes the elites float)<br />Heamonculus- Liquifier<br /><br />3 Trueborn, 3 blasters<br />Venom Dual Cannon<br /><br />3 Trueborn, 3 blasters<br />Venom Dual Cannon<br /><br />10 Warriors, Splinter Cannon, Blaster, Syb<br />Raider, Flicker Field<br /><br />5 Warriors Blaster<br />Venom Dual Cannon<br /><br />5 Warriors Blaster<br />Venom Dual Cannon<br /><br />3 Reaver Jetbikes with a Heatlance<br /><br />Ravager Flicker Field, Night Shield<br /><br />List 2 (1000pts, takes Heavy float)<br /><br />Heamonculus Liquifier<br /><br />4 Trueborn, 3 blasters, 1 shredder (odd i know but points worked out)<br />Venom one cannon<br /><br />5 Warriors Blaster<br />Venom dual cannon<br /><br />5 Warriors Blaster<br />Venom dual cannon<br /><br />5 Warriors Blaster<br />Venom dual cannon<br /><br />6 Reaver Jetbikes 2 blasters<br /><br />Ravager Flicker field and night shield<br /><br />Ravager Flicker field and night shield<br /><br />Total for the two lists is 2000pts, and I cant wait to try it out. I know that it would be very monotonous to play but competitive.<br /><br />Cheers!Skarihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08451297833400037359noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7112747788837211344.post-4688448620786087192011-12-13T10:48:00.000-08:002011-12-13T10:50:34.517-08:00Skared Podcast - EPISODE 3 - Tournament Recap and moreEpisode 3 is up! He used to spend more time making lists than actually playing... literally, it would take 3 days for him to make a 1500pt list. Anyway; how does this work?<br /><br />Divide total point value of army by 9. So for example in an 1850pt list you have nine 205 pt "sections" and a 5pt floater.<br /><br />First Place 4 "sections" (820pts) into troops.<br /><br />Then 1 "section" (205pts) in each of your Heavy, Fast, Elites and HQ sections.<br /><br />This leaves 1 "section" that you may do what ever you want with. For example an Imperial Guard army might put it into Heavy Support.<br /><br />IMPORTANT: This is a general guideline, not a strict rubric. It is aimed at balancing the list to deal with as much as possible while keeping it effective and spam-free.<br /><br />Now, I had no idea what this was until finally my dad explained the system. Then I went and counted out my competitive DE army into it and found that I was almost spot on! I was very successful with the list that fit in to the "law" and have had trouble moving away from it ever since. I find it is a nice tool to keep things interesting while keeping focused on what matters, good number of troops, some fast units, firesupport and elite units. Of course keeping the HQ cheap so as to not sink too many pts into it.<br /><br />Anyway. I challenge all of you to try it out! And let me know what you think.<br /><br />Cheers!<br /><input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input onclick="if(typeof(jsCall)=='function'){jsCall();}else{setTimeout('jsCall()',500);}" id="jsProxy" type="hidden"><div id="refHTML"></div>Skarihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08451297833400037359noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7112747788837211344.post-30876369724328496632011-11-28T12:49:00.000-08:002011-11-28T12:50:21.785-08:00Episode 2!
