Anyong Haseyo!
The mail came in today, and with it came my COBRA Rattler, er I mean, my Valkyrie. A big thank-you to Pete for sending it to me, as well as my SGU t-shirt and some other goodies. Watch for the SGU logo representing in future installments.
Work on the COBRA Guard progresses well. Here is a group shot of my finished models.
(Yes, that is a South Korean flag in the background.)
So far we have the 40K equivalent of the Nightraven, Rattler, Thundermachine, HISS II, HISS III, IMP, Crimson Guard and Destro!
I'm particularly pleased with how the planes have turned out.
My plans to use Death Korps of Kreig as COBRA Vipers has been delayed, for the time being. Meanwhile, I'll convert some more Cadians to the cause. One thing that is really setting me back while in Korea is the lack of options. There is only one store. They only stock the current GW line. If anyone has old or used models, I rarely hear of it. Suffice it to say, it's hard to find meltagun and plasmagun armed guardsmen.
So I guess what I'm saying is, Darren wants OOP guardsmen, especially with melta / plasma for Christmas! (I've already got a line on a platoon of Praetorians... mwahahaha!)
Otherwise, my time abroad passes passably well. Mom sent me some more things from home, including Horus Rising by Dan Abnett. I already read it (ooops Mom!) but what the hey, like I don't have time to read it again!
All the best to the rest of the SGU! Wish I could be there for the Mike Mudd Tournament, but all my best wishes go with you for a great event. Now, to return to my daily affirmations...
"Must not start another 40k army.... (smack!) Must resist High Elves... (smack!) Must not make a second Nob Biker squad... (smack!)"
This could take a while... Cheers!

Project Blood Angels
Well guys, Ridvan and I went to the Warmasters Doubles Tournament. There were 54 teams, so 108 players. This is the biggest event I have ever been to. This was such a blast, so many players, so many armies. The skill of the people was just so good and the painting and modeling on some of those armies was amazing. Ridvan and I only really had 2 weeks to plan for this event which isn't a lot of time given that some plan a few months ahead. I was going because this would be my first time and I just wanted to play in a huge event. Ridvan brought his Dark Eldar and was the only Dark Eldar player out of 108 which was funny in itself. I took my Blood Angels.
Game 1 VS. Imperial Guard and Blood Angels
This game was a learning curve for Ridvan and I as we hadn't tested our armies at all. This added with some pretty below average rolls with things, like my Pred not being able to hit or kill anything. As well as the first game going a bit slow stopped us from being able to pull out anything other then an almost draw. The the funniest moment was Dark Eldar warriors charging and holding up the 'flag holder' squad which was the primary objective.
We came in at 19 points for the game, they came in at 22 so it was very close and very fun.
Game 2 VS Tau and Space Wolves
They were running with two Rune Priests both with living lightning and 4 Broadsides with Railguns so we were pretty sure the Raiders and Ravagers would die fast. However we decided that I was just going to totally rush the Tau, and force the Space Wolf player to defend the Tau player. This did work for a while and left the Dark Eldar to hold the objectives. On top of it all this mission had objectives that you placed then they scattered. We got really lucky as 2 of the objectives scattered towards our side of the table (we were playing table quarters) and on the last turn the 5th objective actually scattered onto the one Dark Eldar troop squad. We tied the secondary on this though. So we won the primary, tied the secondary and won the tertiary. This put us in really good position going into lunch break.
The first two pictures show how aggressive I was in moving my forces right into the Tau lap. The last you can see just how close the two objectives landed together and if you look hard you can see they are about an inch from the side of the board.
Game 3 VS Orks and Orks
This game was so fun. This was again hoard Orks lead by Ghazzy. This was the one army we thought we would have the most trouble with. However with Dark Eldar and Blood Angels we were able to out speed the orks who were almost all on foot. We took the game in the last turn. In fact we got the Primary, Secondary and Tertiary all in the 5th turn. Primary was kill points, we got two kill points in the last turn as the Dark Eldar were able to hit the Gretchen Mob and Gretchen Cannon Crew in one assault and end its assault on the Ork objective and in terrain which is important. This, added with fast Rhinos, and Fast skimmers let us get two more troop squads into terrain. Then our other fast vehicles were able to contest terrain which is important. So the Primary was kill points, which we were tied until turn five, the secondary was to control terrain with troop, last turn we grabbed three pieces of terrain, the orks held two which we contested. And Tertiary was hold an objective in a deployment zone, we left ours alone and the one Warrior squad was able to kill the Gretchen holding the Ork one and finish the game holding it. In one turn we went from losing the game to a total victory, we were one point from a perfect game.
Here are some pictures of the Ork Hoard.
Game 4 VS Orks and Tyranids
So we sit across the table from the Ork and Nid player and expect another hoard. Then I watch as the Nid player deploys 6 models. The Ork player deploys 40. The nid player was playing 2 Trygon Primes, a Tirvigon, a Guard unit and a bunch of Genestealers. The Ork player had 20 Shoota boyz, 10 Lootas and 750 points worth of Nob Bikers. In this one the Primary was to lose the least kill points but one of the team members had to pick that. So I took that, the Secondary was to have a unit hold a flag and tertiary was to get units into your opponents deployment zone and the Flag unit would be worth 3 points for this. This was another game that we won in the last turn. We tossed a LOT of things into the Nob Bikers and for 4 turns kept trying to use Horrorfexes and Fear the Darkness on them and Finally we were able to pin them on turn 4 and make them run on turn 5. In the last turn the Archon was able to claim the last kill point we needed to get us the win here, as well as the Bikers contested the opponents flag unit and of course turbo boosted the Warrior squads Raider with the flag into the Opponents Deployment zone to get the tertiary. So in the last turn again we pulled it off an got near perfect points for our last game. Since I was the one trying to save kill points this made for a funny point in the game where a squad of Dark Eldar Warriors stood off in front of the Nob Bikers to make sure I couldn't get charged.
So the first picture is of the army we faced.
The huge Nob Biker host.
One of the funniest moments, Dark Eldar Warriors ready to die for my Blood Angels lol.
And lastly the best thing you could ever see on the table, the HUGE nob Biker mob running in fear!
So with those games under our belts I felt we did pretty good but with 54 teams who knows where we stood. However when the smoke cleared we won best General. We were second place over all and we had the most battle points we were just behind on some of the soft scores. In fact we were only 2 points out of first place. So for our first time at the Warmaster doubles I am very proud of our team.

Project Blood Angels
Hey guys. I have a 1000pt doubles tournament this weekend. So one of the things I need for this are 3 objective markers. So these are what I came up with. I was only going to make 5 that were the same. They were all going to just be Sanguinary Priests tending to wounded or dead Blood Angels. However after reading Sara's post here about dynamic objective markers I changed my mind.
So I did start with my first idea so here is the Priest and the wounded marine. These Objective Markers are done except for the markings on their shoulders.
Next I moved onto my next one, this one was inspired by the book Rynns World. I hated the book but there was a spot in the book where a Space Marine Sergeant stayed back to defend and ultimately die with a member of his squad, basically a last stand.
The next one I did was going to be a last alliance type marker with a Blood Angel and an Eldar. However I came up with a better idea to do a Blood Angel making a last stand with a Guardsman. You'll see a last stand theme here.
The last two aren't done yet, but to give you and idea of what they are, the next one is a kneeling, wounded marine holding aloft a banner, sort of holding in sure defiance despite the fact he should be dead. The last one is a dead space marine lying on the ground with a busted Ork Deff Dread close combat weapon buried in the ground behind him. So he made a last stand against a Deff Dread and did some damage but before going out.

Project Blood Angels
Ok so the first Tournament for the new painted Blood Angels has come and gone. It actually went very well. It was a 4 game tournament.
The first game was against oddly enough another Blood Angel player. It was Dawn of War and Kill Points. This was a game where honestly I miss played. I played for a tie for some odd reason honestly and didn't play aggressive at all. I should have, he had long range shooting and as you remember from seeing my army the best I had was 24" Assault Cannons. I kept back and finally he pooped my Razorbacks for a loss of 0 Kill Points to 2. I was disappointed in that game I should have just threw my army forward and worst case I still lose.
Second game was with a friend, Sara and her Nid hoard. She had her Tervigons just pumping out the gaunts. In two turns they pumped out they dumped out 39 Guants. This game was multiple objectives with 3 of them. Spearhead deployment, there was a building right in the middle of the table and deployed behind it. My deployment zone almost put me on two of the three. So I knew if I could just hold mine I could pull off a win. So I moved up and put all my tanks in a mobile wall strung out between the two of them and on my left flank I held off the nids with my Terminators, the other was held by Sanginor and Mephiston. With Feel No Pain and Furious Charge I was able to keep the Nids back and win the game 2 to 1. Her army parted around the building letting me hold off both halves.
Third game was against a friend Pete and his Mech Guard. Now before anyone groans he doesn't play what would be a Leaf Blower he runs 4 different russes, not a single vendetta or valkyrie. Now what he does have is a lot of Vets in chimera's but who wouldn't play that when playing guard. This was also multiple objectives, there were 4. It was Pitched Battle. I lined up across from the Guard now I have play tested this list of mine against this same guard list a couple of times leading up to this tournament. I knew that if I just ran my army as fast as I could towards the guard I could pin him and and pull the army apart. Now this worked in all my test games and also worked here. However, I did feel bad, as I knew my chances were very good but this was helped by Pete the guard player rolling some terrible dice or myself rolling very well. By turn 4 I had only lost 8 marines, after the game was over, I lost 10 or so marines and one Razorback. Needless to say this game went well in my favor.
The last game was against a hybrid? Space wolf list. I have seen a Logan-wing army and this was sort of half of that. It was 3 Drop Pods, 1 with three wolf guard and combi-meltas in terminator armor. A pod with Njal and 5 terminator wolf guard with power weapons. A Pod with Logan and 5 Terminators with power weapons. 3 tanks full of grey hunters and a squad of long fangs with missile launchers. This game pretty much came down to a huge assault in the middle. His list was elite and could have pulled my army apart in parts, so I kept my army packed in the middle. It was kill points again. The middle of the board at one point had 9 units in the same close combat. In one turn he shot at the termies with all his rhinos, all his pods and then assaulted my terminators with Logan, his 5 termies, and 20 grey wolves both with wolf banners popped. Two Terminators and their Priest lived through the combat. I then counter assaulted with Mephiston, and two of the 6 man assault squads. When the smoke cleared I still had two terminators, Mephiston and one assault squad with 4 members. All in all I managed to table the player.
So I went 3-1 and I was 1 point out of over all and took home the Best General prize. I was very happy with the army.
Next week is 1000points for a doubles event. So my new list requires new things to be painted. Firstly the HQ will be a Librarian. So I want to show off my Librarian models. I have kit bashed both models. Here they are, I'll explain all the parts in each following the pictures.
The first one I built is here...
He consists of Sanguinary Guard body Axe and Death Company legs. A Death company head. An actual Librarian arm with the book and a Death Company back pack.
The second one I built is here...
He has a tank commander head, Sanguinary Guard body, Death Company legs, His Axe is actually a Space Wolf Runic axe with the runes green stuffed over. His back pack is a Canis Wolfborn back pack with the bones taken off of it. The book is form the Chaos Terminator box set, the arm holding it is a bolter army with the hand replaced with a Sangunary Guard open hand holding

The Korean Konnection - 1
WAAAAAAAGH!
Darren here, from the Land of Morning Calm- South Korea!
I've been back in the ROK for three months now, but being half a world away from my friends in the SGU hasn't dampened my spirits (too much). I keep collecting and playing whenever I can. Current projects are a COBRA themed Mech Guard army, extra gubbins for my Orks and someday I'll finish painting up Shawn's, err, my White Scars.
Thankfully, there is one GW store in Korea, and it is awesome!
Orctown not only supports GW, but Warmachine/Hordes, Flames of War and a variety of historical mini series like Imjin War. Games can be prearranged through their website www.orctown.com and it is a friendly, well maintained little slice of gaming heaven.
I played my first game in over a month today. I pitted my "Hot Lead" Orks against a rather odd Black Templar build. The game was Seize Ground, Spearhead deployment, 2000 points. Check out his forces...
No shooting with a range of more than 24" in all 2000 points. I guess he was planning to bring the fight to me. Problem was, he didn't. He dithered, sending in his forces with no real cohesion. He expected me to come straight at him, and I guess he was hoping to surround me when I did. But being a sneaky git, I did no such thing, hur hur hur! When I redeployed to my right (sorry, pictures didn't turn out), he dithered some more and I was able to take his scoring units apart in detail. Ghazkull & Co. were up to their usual tricks, seeing off his Marshall, Assault Squad and Initiates with enough left to threaten his Terminators.
When his Assault Termies finally hit home, they made a mess of my Battlewagon and Ard Boyz. Some return fire thinned them out, until only the Emperor's Champ, wounded, threatened my other Battlewagon at the end of turn 3. But by then, his confidence was shot. His scoring units were gone, and I still had the GhazNobz and some Boyz to grab objectives. He threw in the towel, citing how far behind the curve BT have become. Given my experience against Pete and Ridvan's Templars, I'm not really sure what the heck he was talking about...
Flush with success, the ladz still undefeated in Korea, I celebrated as you might expect. I spent way too much money on the hobby... again! Well, better that, then waiting another 6 weeks for a fresh shipment to come in. Looks like I got some work ahead of me. Now, if only those COBRA decals would get here...

Project Blood Angels
Well boys and girls the 2000pt tournament will be tomorrow...well today I guess as it is 2am here. I am about to go to bed to dream of sweet victory. However I wanted to leave you all with the final pictures of my 2000pt army. I didn't get time before this tournament to get the display board done or my objective markers (more on them to come).
But here is the army, again this project was an attempt to paint a 2000pt army quickly so the list isn't the best but it is compact and has very few models in it. I usually play my Eldar in these tournaments but they are getting very stale and I hate playing without being fully painted, thus Project Blood Angels. I have rambled on enough here are the photos.

Project Blood Angels
Well I had not planned to get a display board done for a while yet. However I did pick up some of the foam I needed for it and couldn't just let it sit there.
I finally settled on the idea I wanted to use for the board. In the Blood Angel book there are stories of course that speak about when Sanguinius came to Baal. The people of Baal soon erected a statue in memory of the event and of Sanguinius and the area is called Angels Fall. It is an area that is supposed to be a are that has a Sanguinius statue in it. With the recent fluff the Blood Angel home system is being attacked by both a splinter hive fleet of Leviathan as well as a Blood Thirster known as Ka'Bandha has assembled a huge war host and is attacking Baal. So I wanted to make a board that would show a Blood Angel army defending what they would consider a very sacred place. So my plan is to make a road leading up to the Sanguinius statue and then around that would go the army. I wanted to make sure the road had a Blood Angel symbol on it in some way. I found some coloured sand and fell in love with the idea of getting a Blood Angel symbol in the sand leading up the path.
So with Red, White and Black sand in hand...here are some work in progress pictures.
So first I drew out the road, you'll notice the road isn't exactly the same size at the top and the bottom. I will be using a slight forced prospective on the road so that it looks longer then it truly will be. So while standing back from the board the road actually looks a bit longer. I think it'll work. I drew out the Blood Angel icon on the road, used some watered down PVA glue and made the icon using the Red and White icon. I think it came out great.
After that I started to fill in the 'road' with the black sand.
Now I haven't filled in all the area around the icon because I have to be a little more delicate around it.
Also I wanted to build up a platform for the statue of course so here is my work on that so far.
Lastly, I am going to try to find lamps from the Imperial Sector Building sets to attempt to run some lamps along the board.
I will keep you posted as I go on with this.
Project Blood Angels
Ok well I have had to step up my work on the Blood Angels. I will be going to 3 tournaments in a month. Each different points and one being a doubles which requires a lot of different models. On top of that I am doing the whole players pack for the Michael Mudd Memorial tournament that our group the Stratford Gaming Union puts on. So I have a lot of writing for that to do. I am writing up all the missions all of which we have made up ourselves. I am also writing up the fluff for the doubles lists as well so on top of all this painting I have a lot of writing and lay out to do over the next month.
So I have managed to get both my second 6 man squad done as well as both the Razorbacks I will need for the tournament on the 11th.
First I'll share the Razorbacks. The one thing you will notice is that there are no squads markings on these. Right now I haven't decided how I want to paint the squad markings up on these so for now I don't think I will put any on there yet till I am 100% sure how I want to do those.
